As males become older certain physical changes in us begin to develop, such as balding or hair thinning. While these in themselves are unwanted, there is another unattractive change that males do not care to mention – increased nose hair! I don’t know why we’re made to have this issue, but, we do so we obviously need solutions…
At approximately 30 years onwards, men will commonly begin to notice the protrusion of stray nasal hairs from the depths of their nose and, unfortunately, this protrusion only intensifies as the years pass. Luckily, there is a method to control this unwanted development by simply trimming the nose hair down periodically. This is a brief guide on how to trim your nose hair the easy way.
First, 2 things to NOT do when trimming your nose hairs
- Do not pluck the nose hairs with your fingers!
- Do not pluck the hairs with tweezers!
Plucking with your fingers or tweezers is not only painful but it can also result in small lesions forming in the nose which can consequentially cause infections. I will also add that plucking with you fingers is actually a disgusting habit – don’t do it!
There are essentially 2 ways to trim your nose hair
They are as follows:
- With Special Grooming Scissors
- Battery-operated Nose Hair Trimmer
1. The Nose Grooming Scissors (Not My Recommended Way)
The first item that can be used as part of the nose grooming procedure is the nose grooming scissors. Nose grooming scissors can be purchased at different retailers or online at Amazon (see various ones here) and it is essential that you use specific grooming scissors to ensure you are not injured. This is because grooming scissors have a blunt-end and are shaped to accommodate the curvature of a nose. When using nose grooming scissors it is recommended that you utilize a mirror and only trim as far as you are able to see.
While nose hair scissors work they also have a bit more risk. You can potentially puncture yourself or cut yourself with these. Nose hair scissors are also not much cheaper than a battery-operated nose hair trimmer so there isn’t much use for these in todays modern world.
2. The Electric Nose Hair Trimmer (My Recommended Way)
While nose grooming scissors are effective, the most beneficial means of trimming unwanted nasal hair is arguably the electric nose hair trimmer. This item is specifically designed to trim hair in a speedy, safe, and painless manner. There are numerous models of the electric nose trimmer available for purchase. Use my handy to follow guide on buying the right nose hair trimmer first.
On design will trim nasal hair using a rotating blade that spins continuously in one direction; whereas, another design includes an oscillating blade rotating left to right. Both designs are useful; however, it is found that the oscillating blade option is less painful.
When using the electric nose hair trimmer it is recommended that you do not push the item too far up the nasal passage. This is not only for your safety but also to ensure the nasal hairs required for protection against germs are left intact.
How Hard Is It To Trim The Nose Hair?
Honestly, this is one of the easiest things you’ll do in your life.
You simply do the following:
- Locate the nostril(s) that has unwanted visible nose hair (hair hanging from nostril)
- Insert the battery-operated nose hair trimmer
- Turn the unit on and trim briefly
- Check to see that the nose hair is no longer visible
How To Trim Your Nose Hair In Steps
Make sure that you are not trying to dig into your nostril deeply with the trimmer. You simply need to remove only the visible hairs. So if there is no longer any nose hair visible (stick out from the nostril) you’re done! To avoid a mess make sure you’re trimming your nose hair over the sink or waste basket.
As can be seen, there are various options when it comes to nasal hair trimming. By using the information above showing how to trim nose hair, you can safely begin nasal grooming. So again, be cautious here, avoid plucking the nose hairs and use an electric battery-operated nose hair trimmer whenever possible. Trimming nose hair is something that every man will at some point need to do — just do it right!
