Should a man shave his chest? This is a question many people wonder, but the truth is it is a personal decision on the man’s part. Below are a few reasons why you would. Then we’ll dig into what women say.
1. Show Off Muscles: One of the main reasons why a man would want to shave their chest is to show off their muscle definition. If you workout and you want your chest muscles to be more visible or if you plan on competing in a bodybuilding show, then you will want your chest muscles to be as visible as possible. When your chest is covered with thick hair, then your definition won’t show through as much. You might be surprised at how much more defined your chest looks after you shave it.
2. For Their Partners: A lot of men have romantic partners who do not like body hair. In other words, they like their men to be clean cut all over, and if you have a partner who doesn’t like body hair or likes the clean cut look, then you might consider shaving your chest. Sure, there are many women who are a fan of chest hair, but the truth is there are probably also women who don’t like it.
3. To Attract The Opposite Sex: Many men shave their chest in order to attract the opposite sex at clubs, the beach and other places where their body is on display or their chest is on display. As previously mentioned, there are many women who don’t find chest hair or facial hair attractive, and if you want to increase your chances of attracting women, then shave your chest and face. If you workout and you have a defined physique or you’re bulky, then you want to be able to show your muscles off and one of the best ways to do this is by making sure you don’t have body hair.
4. It May Feel More Comfortable: Some men find it more comfortable when they have a shaved chest and some find that they don’t sweat as much when they don’t have chest hair. This is all a matter of personal opinions and preference, but if you find it annoying having chest hair, then consider shaving it and see how it feels. There’s a good chance you will like how it feels and you might feel more comfortable, especially if you workout or spend a lot of time outdoors doing physical activities, such as construction work. Remember, hair grows back, so if you do not like having a shaved chest, then you can simply let your chest hair grow back.
There are other obvious reasons why you might shave your chest not mentioned above. I.e if you have surgery, are a competitive swimmer or body builder those are all additional reasons you might shave your chest. Now let’s move on….
What Women Are Saying About Chest Hair
Believe it or not, there was a national survey conducted which you can find out about what women think of all your male body hair in general. The survey suggested that 53% of women think a man should trim and groom their chest hair but not shave it off. This portion of the survey is essentially saying that you should NOT look like Austin Powers. The survey continued to suggest that 43% of women think a man should not shave his chest at all and that only 16 percent wanted it 100% cleanshaven.
Now, you can do with that information what you’d like but if you’re going for what women mainly want it would seem that having some chest hair is better than 100% hairless.
If you’re looking to see additional things that women like, go check out the posts over on Pinterest. Do a simple search for Men Chest Hair and you’ll find what women think about celebs with chest hair. It’s certainly telling to get first-hand comments straight from a mainly female audience.

Ultimately, along with our motto here at New Complete Man we think you should do as you want with your body hair. I have a sneaky suspicion that if you have giant tufts of hair around your nipple area you might want to groom it slightly.
